Anyone can write songs. It is a wonderful outlet for creative minds to express their thoughts and their emotions through the lyrics of a song. It is also a very lucrative business for anyone who is thinking of making it a career or profession. You can make millions out of writing songs that becomes a hit in the top chart. There are many popular songs that have been created by ordinary individuals who write songs as a pastime and suddenly, they are plunged into celebrity status, all because of one song.
Song writing can be done by a single individual or a group of people working together to create music. Most song writers start out in this profession without any formal training or degrees in music. It does help to have a certain amount of background in music or skills in playing a music instrument and some even take supplementary training in order to polish up their song writing skill or improve their home-grown talents well enough to earn income from this activity.
In the music industry, there are people who write song and publish it on their own without hiring professionals to manage their careers. In some music recording companies, they can hire hundreds of song writers who get paid a handsome amount to create music for performing artists or for publishing agents.

A college degree in music or diplomas from music colleges is not a requirement but it would certainly be an advantage. If song writing is what you like to do and do best, then all you need is inspiration and passion. Interest and love for music is innate in nature. It is something that a person may be born with or not at all. Some people hear or see something that can spark a new idea or cause them to want to create music and before you know it, a song is written.
Passion is what drives a person to feel the urge to do something out of the ordinary. A passionate person creates with strong emotions. That is why the lyrics in many songs reflect the song writer’s own emotional state. When you listen to their song, you cannot help but empathize with the writer’s anguish and pain. If the lyrics are cheerful, you also feel uplifted, and when the music is sad, you cannot help but feel emotionally drawn.
Song writing is but one of the many ways artists expresses their feelings. Just like in painting and other forms of art, people are magnetized by the artist’s skill in conveying what they feel through the lyrics of the song. When a song writer is skillful in articulating his thoughts through music, you can feel the energy of the song flow through your body like wine and you are intoxicated with its melody.
Sometimes, a song can be associated with an important event so much so that when you hear the song, you automatically remember the event. Some people can even recall the name of old movies from the 60’s all because it has a popular soundtrack. That is what makes song writing a fulfilling career and what makes writers keep on writing beautiful music.
