Are you stuck for inspiration? Here are a few tips to help you launch your song writing career. All too often, we have that urge to write a song just for the heck of it or sometimes, we get bitten by the creative bug and get infected with a disease called song writing. For frustrated song writers who cannot seem to get beyond the first step, the following tips could serve you in good stead next time you get that all too familiar feeling of creativity.

- Always carry around a small notepad or a diary where you can write everything interesting that you see or hear. Sometimes, all it takes is a single phrase from someone to get your pen flying off like a magic wand and start scribbling. Inspiration is the mother of creativity and it does not take a lot to inspire someone who has an artistic inclination to create magic out of ordinary conversations or mundane objects. So, always keep a pen and paper handy at all times so that the next time inspiration strikes, you will be ready to write it down. Before you know it, you may be able to compile enough notes to complete a whole song.
- Never take anything for granted and learn to discern the emotions beyond every conversation you have with people. It is not difficult to gather a whole volume of encyclopedia on feelings if you are alert to the nuances of emotional dynamics. You should always be willing to listen especially when people are talking to you about their feelings. Be sincere and sensitive to how they feel because people only start to open up when they feel that the person they are talking to is sincerely interested. You can gather a lot of ideas from what they tell you and from what they are not telling you.
- Think like an artist and learn to find the inner beauty in everything you see. A drop of rain or a falling leaf is enough to trigger a plethora of thoughts and emotions. Be imaginative and look at things at different angles. You will be surprised at how much you can learn by looking at something or someone differently. Artistry is differentiated from skills by imagination. It is what distinguishes a piece of clay from a beautiful vase. How you see things will only be limited by your imagination. So get out of your room and see the world in a whole new light and you will be amazed at the treasure trove of ideas you can get out of a single walk through the neighborhood.
- It is definitely a reality that your love for song writing will not take off unless you know how to play a musical instrument. But if you do not know how to play one, there is no need to despair; you can always find someone to collaborate with you in creating the melodies. It can be a friend, a member of the family, someone from the church choir or the glee club. There are hundreds of people who would be willing to give you a hand if you try hard enough to find one.
